Two Colerain Township firefighters lost their lives while fighting a house fire in their community. Captain Robin Broxterman and Firefight-EMT Brian Schira were both killed when they fell through a floor into a burning basement during a residential structure fire on Friday, April 4, 2008.
Captain Broxterman was the first female fire captain in Colerain Township. She had been with the department for 17 years. She leaves behind two daughters and was engaged to a firefighter from another district.
Firefighter Schira was hired by Colerain Township last November, and also worked for the Delhi Township Fire Department.
